Addielicious Elephant
For years I (Hannah*) was back and forth on what I wanted to do in life. Until I met Addie. As a kid I knew I wanted to grow up and help people, but I wasn’t sure on what specifically that would be.
I first met Addie in April 2012. I had been assigned to be her new aid. I was nervous and scared since I had never worked with children with disabilities before. While working with Addie, she showed me that even with obstacles you can overcome and achieve anything.
She inspired me to become a special educator. To follow my heart and work with children- something I have always admired doing.
Her inspiration lead me to get a permanent reminder. With Addie’s love for Dumbo I knew right away I wanted to get an elephant tattoo. The elephant is not only a representation of Dumbo but is also a symbol for strength.
But most importantly, it is a daily reminder of the little girl who has inspired me to chase after dreams.
Addie I hope you continue to grow and inspire others with your new Addielicious Walk To Help event. Tattoo anyone?
*Hannah Settle was Addie’s one-on-one Aid at White Oak for two years. She is also an inspiration to our family!!!!!!!!!!!! Hannah continues to work at White Oak, while attending school to achieve her Masters in special education and raising her own daughter, Addy!
